Safeguarding Policy Statement
This policy statement aims to promote young people's rights and safeguard their wellbeing whilst accessing services through I’m Fine.
The purpose of this policy statement is:

• to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults who use I’m Fine’s services from harm. This includes children, young people and vulnerable adults. It also covers these groups associated with adults who access our services.
• to provide staff, volunteers, young people, their parent/carers, and adult service users with the overarching principles guiding our approach to child protection.

This policy applies to anyone working on behalf of I’m Fine.
Legal framework:

This policy has been drawn up based on legislation, policy and guidance, which
seeks to protect children in England. This includes The Children Act 1989, The Children Act 2004 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017.
We believe that:

• children, young people and vulnerable adults should never have to experience abuse of any kind
• safeguarding and child protection are the responsibility of everyone. We are responsible for promoting the welfare and safety of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults within our organisation and practising in a way that protects them.

We recognise that:

• the welfare of children is paramount throughout the work that we do and in the decisions, we take
• working in partnership with children, young people, their parents, carers and other agencies is essential in promoting young people’s welfare
• all children, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or
belief, sex, or sexual orientation have an equal right to protection from all types
of harm or abuse and will be provided with equal priority.
• some children may be additionally vulnerable due to the impact of previous experiences, any communication needs or their level of dependency, among other issues. Extra safeguards may be required in this instance to ensure children who are additionally vulnerable are kept safe from abuse.

We will seek to keep children and young people safe by:

• valuing, listening to and respecting them
• appointing a nominated child protection lead for children, young people and vulnerable adults
• adopting child protection and safeguarding best practices through our policies,
procedures and code of conduct
• developing and implementing an effective online safety policy and related
procedures
• Provide effective management for staff and volunteers through supervision,
support, training and quality assurance measures so that all staff and
volunteers know about and follow our policies, procedures and behaviour codes
confidently and competently.
• recording, storing and using information professionally and securely, in line
with data protection legislation and guidance. For more information, see our privacy policy.
• sharing information about safeguarding and good practice with children and
their families via leaflets, posters, group work and one-to-one discussions
• making sure that children, young people and their families know where to go
for help if they have a concern
• using our safeguarding and child protection procedures to share concerns and
relevant information with agencies who need to know, and involving children,
young people, parents, families and carers appropriately
• using our procedures to manage any allegations against staff and volunteers
and referring such allegations to the LESAS when appropriate.
• ensuring that we have effective complaints measures in place
• building a safeguarding culture where staff and volunteers, children, young
people and their families, treat each other with respect and are comfortable
about sharing concerns.
